Stagecoach - A residential resort community, located in beautiful Routt County in the Yampa Valley and adjacent to Stagecoach State Lake, is just a short drive from Steamboat Springs. The area offers hiking, biking, fishing, boating, skiing, and even dog sledding along with residential opportunities all in a beautiful natural setting.

Updated closures and dates:

The Morrison Cove boat ramp will close on August 13th and will remain closed for the season.  We will work with contractors to keep at least a portion of the parking lot available as long as possible but no guarantees.

After meeting with the water district and the contractor, they are not able to modify their schedule for working on the Morrison Cove Boat Ramp and if fact, it looks like we will not have it available for Labor Day Weekend.  That is to say…The Morrison Cove boat ramp will close on August 13th and will remain closed for the season.  We will work with contractors to keep at least a portion of the parking lot available as long as possible but no guarantees.  We will also try to keep both trail access points available as long as possible but that will be difficult also.  Please call or email Andy (see info below) with any further questions or comments.

Andy Rossi has been working with the park and has been very helpful in minimizing the impact this project will have on park operation and our visitors. He is open to questions and comments but we all need to realize something. That something is that this project is going to happen and there will be impacts on use this summer and fall. We all need to keep in mind that it is a temporary inconvenience, and that any closures are for safety reasons. The less we interrupt the contractors doing the work, the quicker they will be done and out of our way. If an area is closed, please be respectful and stay out. Next year when the sun comes back out this will be behind us and we can get back to enjoying our park as we know it. Plus, we will have about 50 more surface acres to enjoy!

Any project specific questions should go through Andy Rossi, but as always feel free to call or email me here at the park with “other” questions or comments.

I recently received more information on the water level raise project here at Stagecoach. Here are a few major things that you all will be interested in. The first is that they will be starting work over in Morrison Cove parking lot around August 13th. At that point, we will have to close part of, if not all of that parking lot. If we are able to leave part of the parking lot open, we will probably still have to close the boat ramp. Worst case scenario will be that the Morrison Cove boat ramp and parking lot will be closed from August 13th through August 27th; then it will reopen from the 28th through September 6th; then re-close the boat ramp for the season on September 7th due to low water. We are working with the water district and the contractor to see if they cannot move this part of the project to after Labor Day but won’t know if that is possible for a couple of weeks potentially.

The other major factor that will affect South Shore residents is the trail work. They will be starting some of the trail work as early as August 1st. We, the park, will be working with the water district and the contractor to make sure that closures are signed and well marked. Eventually, possibly as early as August 16th, we will have to close the whole section of trail from Morrison Cove Parking Lot to the Dam. This will be a total closure to ALL use. This will be considered a construction zone with no access, even after hours.

Finally, the Swim beach will close on September 7th to all use. We are pretty confident about this part of the project.

This information is subject to change and I will do my best to keep you all posted on those changes as I receive them but all questions and comments about the project should be sent to the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District. Their contact for this project is…
